Could we possibly make the meeting a bit earlier say 5.30? I imagine this
would suit those who have to be at work til 5 though please correct me if
I'm wrong! And I'd say clowns is fine as long as the owners don't mind us
taking over slightly... probably ok at that time though.

Dear All,
Thanks for your messages! I agree that we need a source of funding to
cover basic expenses. I suggest we ask everyone for a donation, with
£5 being the required amount to be a member of our society.

Perhaps we can have a committee meeting at 6pm on Monday, at Clown's
Cafe (unless there are better venue ideas)?

There is space in the venue to have a membership table (we could also
sell books - I have some spare copies of James Lovelock's book - and
have a mailing list signup sheet). I think we should have such a
table, so people can make donations 'towards running costs' if they
are willing (you might find that people are more generous than we
expect!). If their donation is £5, that would give them the right to
be a member of our society.

I think we should stick with the agreed details of the talks and so
the current posters remain the same. However, it's possible that we
will have a couple of introductory talks 7:15-7:45 (a bit like 'warm
up' acts!!), followed by a break before the main event. We are
collaborating with a town-based group (Cambridge Atmospheric Carbon
Action Group) who will hold meetings monthly, and so it might be nice
to introduce the society and the Action Group to those who might be
interested. I shall provide details on Monday if this is agreed, but
it does not effect our advertising or our email message. Please do
forward the details of our talk to other societies, departments and
college email lists.

If we can find a venue for a film night we could show the 2 David
Attenborough DVDs we could certainly charge then.

Happy to discuss this further on Monday. How about 6pm? Clowns cafe
seemed quite a good venue for an open meeting, since it is quite
central, although I'm open to alternative suggestions.

Please send any agenda items and I shall compose a second email later today,

Thanks,
Steve
