Hi everyone,
a few questions and things that I have found sifting through my emails, some
are quite old I fear, sorry about that, I seem to have forgotten about them.
How are we getting on with any kind of educational projects? I haven't yet
looked at it in detail, but it might be worth trying to work with Harambee
on point 1. ? And how did the balloon man thing go?
Here is the list of things:
1. Request to work in schools - Harambee centre (see attachment also)
2. Books for energy thing (got it a long while ago... )
3. May 4th, Green awareness day
4. Climate conference, not sure how interesting it is
5. CCF Climate change group
I haven't got anything else to say right now, hope to see you soon,
Marc

Hello all
I am writing attaching a list of activities booked over the next few weeks
which we will surely be adding to as time goes on. Many schools are
celebrating International Week from 21-25 May and we have had a few requests
for Global Voices and other input including arts-based activities and
resources.
Would you mind taking a minute to look at the list to see where you might be
able to offer some support? this could be support in the office doing the
preparation of educational activities a few days prior to the event,
delivering a workshop as a Global Voice or as a member of staff or our The
World in our City programme (especially for the 3 July event) or coming
along on the day to support by doing some evaluation or simply taking
photos. All help is welcomed!
As I say the list will be expanded greatly as we get stuck into the summer
term so I will send you occasional updates as this happens.
Thank you for continuing to support us with your work and for making a
difference.
(If you are no longer in Cambridge or no longer wish to remain in any of our
volunteer programmes just drop us an e-mail to let us know. Otherwise we
will consider you to be an active volunteer.)

Insiders' Guide, *which we plan to distribute, free of charge, to over
20,000 students from around the world.
The purpose of this book is to help in promoting a better understanding of
the energy industry amongst students from the world's top universities.
You will find set out below the proposed contents of the book as well as
some information on the team behind the project, for your due-diligence

The Energy Industry: an Insiders' Guide
**
The Energy Industry: an Insiders' Guide
*is a new, macro-economic and geo-political review of the energy industry.
It has been designed with two specific aims:
1. To improve understanding of energy issues among young people.
2. To provide students from the world's top technical universities and
business schools with a comprehensive overview of the industry and the
leading employers.
It will combine essential background facts and information, with a series of
compelling features designed to engage the reader's imagination and
stimulate further enquiry. It will also contain a series of profiles of
individuals working in the industry to give the reader a more real and vital
impression of what a career in energy involves. A series of profiles of key
technologies will illustrate how technology-dependent the industry is and,
therefore, why it needs the best minds.
It will be published in March 2007 and distributed to the engineering
departments and selected faculties of over 150 of the world's leading
universities and business schools. The book will only be provided to
academics who have personally requested copies in writing.

Hi guys,
I'm organsing a 'green awareness' day in King's on friday May 4th and it
would be really good if some representatives from your groups could come
down and help us run a stall giving out information/sigining any petitions
that your respective groups are involved in etc. We're hoping to set up a
table outside in the front court if the weather is nice so the main times
for running it would be through the morning till just after lunch.
So basically we need any leaflets/petitions/banners /other stuff you might
have that you use for your own events that could link up with ours and
hopefully some reps from your groups.
Let me know,
thanks,
Cath

5.*NEW CCF Climate Change Group* CCF has established a Climate Change
Group, which aims primarily to facilitate information exchange
on climate change issues and work within CCF. It addresses the predicted
impacts of climate change
on biodiversity and climate change mitigation measures (including reduction
and adaptation
measures), as well as scientific, socio-economic, legal and policy related
issues at local to global
scales. In particular, its initial objectives are:
•
To provide news on climate change issues relating to impacts on
biodiversity.
•
To provide information on climate change projects being carried out by CCF
members, including
announcements of new projects, progress updates and summaries of key
results.
•
To stimulate and organise discussion meetings.
•
To publicise events by CCF members and others on climate change issues.

•
To promote the work that CCF is doing on climate change issues to the wider
conservation
community.
The Group has set up an e-mail / news group through Google groups. Messages
to the Climate
Change group can be sent by any member through the newsgroup, and the
archive of messages can
be viewed online as it builds. If you haven't joined yet and do still want
to receive info from the group,
please visit http://groups.google.com/group/ccf-climate/ . If you are
otherwise interested in the CCF
Climate Change Group, please contact Graham Tucker on 01480 498395 or
g.tucker at ecological-
solutions.co.uk
We would like to hear your views on the need for the group, your interest
and
involvement in climate change, and ideas for possible activities by the
group.
