Steve, I think this reply was fairly uncalled for. As Federico and Anna
have said, we should take the opportunity to advise on how best to use
resources rather than just comdemning the efforts of those who don't have
the same expertise as members of our society. Taking this kind of attitude
will not help us to prevent the death of the planet as you put it...
Anna and Federico, thanks for your replies! Fran asked me to ask interested
parties to email her directly for the information on her research so far. I
would really like to be involved if I can find the time so please keep me in
the loop on emails.
Thanks,
Nicky

But why would anyone want photovoltaics? They have vast embodied energy are
very expensive, don't give any power when it is needed (in the winter). They
are typical green symbolism - I don't see why on earth we should waste our
time on this sort of thing. Hypnotise yourself to the death of the planet if
you want, but don't ask me to sign up too.

Hi everyone,
The green officer at queens' has been trying for ages to convince the
college to put photovoltaics on the roof of the fourth floor of the cripps
building currently being built. The college is demanding that she gives
them full details about costing/feasibility/potential output etc and she
doesn't have the resources to work all this out herself so it would be great
if either the energy supply or use working group could do some work on this.
Please could whoever leads the relevant working group get in contact with
Fran Boait fcb27 at cam.ac.uk to see where she's got to and how you could help.
Hope this can work out!
Thanks,
Nicky
