Hope to see you this evening. Maybe I can talk at the end of the meeting
(8:15pm?) about the balloon project.
Some introduction:
Paul Lavelle was the first person to fly from the North Pole in 1989 in a
balloon publicise the hole in the Ozone layer.
A few years later, the Montreal protocol was signed, banning the use of
ozone-destroying chloro-fluoro-carbons (CFCs).
He is planning a new flight to the edge of the polar ice - the front-line of
climate change - to publicise the climate change issue and to support
nuclear energy as a biosphere-friendly form of power.
I have been asked to provide the factual background to the flight.
We'll need a lot of help and support on all aspects of climate change,
energy, and nuclear power.
Maybe it may make sense to have an overlapping committee (Environmentalists
for Nuclear Energy), so that people can opt out of this project if they wish
to. It may be more effective to have two separate, but closely linked groups
on this. I feel that we maybe shouldn’t try to run before we can walk. We
should have some time to discuss this, and any issues arising, in some
detail tonight.
All the best
Steve

Subject: [Committee] Meeting monday 7:30pm King's bar
Dear All,
We are having a meeting at 7:30pm on Monday in King's College bar. This will
be a general committee meeting but in particular it is to discuss what to do
next regarding the petition and communicating our ideas to the local
council. Gunnar would like to talk about timetabling a meeting with the
council and Pablo wants to know what to do next with the petition. Hope you
can all make the meeting. I will be in Germany next week but will see you
the week after. If you need to the change the time let everyone else know.
Maybe you could also discuss organising a social event in the next few
weeks.
Best wishes,
Stephen
