Hi Gunnar!
Thanks for your comments! I've put an updated version at
http://makiaea.byethost18.com
with author access at http://makiaea.byethost18.com/test.php#author:true
(the back end has actually completely changed, and the newer system is
better as it is even easier to extract the data into a standalone file
that can be used off-line) note the adverts are redirects rather than
on-page, which means sometimes you'll see the advert page instead of the
real page!
I wasn't really looking to use this to replace the current website, more
as a prototype to show some ideas of where categories should go ie what
might belong in the "committee", what might belong in "events" etc. I
agree with you on the locations and text size (new version is .5em
bigger all round) -- and ultimately by the time a new logo is chosen the
colours and placements will probably be completely different to this!
i've put a copy of your locations suggestions into the website at
http://makiaea.byethost18.com/test.php#website to remind us to implement
them when we have the new logo.
love, maki
further tech details:
(the temporary "logo" i used on the page is a crop and resize of em's
poster -- this fit with the logo gap in the stylesheet i was adapting
from, which was actually simpler than changing the styles to accomodate
the logo)
It is quite easy to alter locations and text sizes (edit the appropriate
stylesheet from the dropdown menu on the top right hand corner) but
using a dual-layer system has multiplied the css stylesheets a bit
(there are over 8 separate stylesheets, some of no more than a few
lines, which give the different styles in each mode)
