Dear Anne,
Thank you very much indeed for inviting us to the demo. I also very
much enjoyed reading about your book and have had a number of contacts
with the TTP group. I would very much like to meet you to discuss
working together.
The Cambridge Zero Carbon Society would like to attend but with the
proviso that any 2050 target is not sufficiently urgent and, even if
implemented by other societies may not be consistent with the survival
of the major ecosystems (amazon) the ice sheets (Greenland, West
Antarctic) and perhaps, given other stresses of civilisation as we
currently know it. It is much more difficult to suck CO2 out of the
air than it is to put it in.

Examples exist (e.g. US mobilisation after Pearl harbor, when 85% of
economy was switched in 1 year) of very rapid economic shifts.
Congratulations on organising this! I look forward to meeting you.
Best wishes,
Stephen Stretton
President, Cambridge Zero Carbon Society

Hi Folks
Theres a demo in cambridge market place 19th April to make it clear
that we want a strong climate bill (see attached) Please do encourage
all your supporters to come along and make their views known. (This
is one of about 150 events which have been happening round the country
see http://www.icount.org.uk/ )
WDM (World Development Movement) are organising this event with other
members of the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition. The Climate Change Bill
is going through Parliament now. A Climate Change Bill which does not
include carbon emissions from aviation and shipping is like a Drink
Drive Bill which excludes the effects of whisky. We want a strong
law. We want aviation and shipping emissions included. We want a
target of 80% -- not 60% -- reduction in carbon emissions.
If you would like to support this action please get in touch for more
details. Or to let us know you are coming so we can include your group
in the press release.
Contact : Sue Woodsford Cambridge WDM Branch Secretary on
Tel 01223 562983 or email: sue.woodsford at ntlworld.com
Or turn up on the day -- Saturday 19 April, a bit before 11am.
If you know of other local groups interested in climate change that
should be told, please pass the word and do let me know . I'm
collating a list of the contact details of coordinators of local
groups and will circulate it to everyone later. I think it could be a
useful resource for us all for publicising local climate related
events.
Do also add your group's details to the Stop Climate Chaos coalition's
map of cambridge area groups involved in climate change so people can
find you. http://www.icount.org.uk/get_involved/explore_the_map/default.asp#
