Events
----------

15th April – April Biofools Day.
The Campaign Against Climate Change and Biofuelwatch are jointly
organising a demonstration outside Downing Street at 6pm on 15th
April.

On 15th April, the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) will be
introduced across the UK . From that day, all forecourts will have to
sell petrol and diesel with a 2.5% minimum blend of biofuels unless
they choose to opt out at a penalty cost of 15 pence per litre. The
UK government are pushing this through despite new studies showing
that this will lead to more, not less greenhouse gas emissions – and
despite rising food prices and growing evidence of human rights abuses
as land across the global South is converted to agrofuel plantations.

There will also be a lunchtime photo/press opportunity outside the
Department for Transport (great Minster House SW1) between 12:30 and
1:30. Please bring your banners and join us for this.

For more details, see: http://www.campaigncc.org/biofuels.shtml and
Biofuelwatch link there regarding the afternoon action

Take Action on the Climate Change Bill on Saturday 19 April
Cambridge WDM invites as many groups as possible to join in its
Climate Change action on 19 April at 11am in Cambridge Market Square.
WDM (World Development Movement) are organising this event with other
members of the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition. The Climate Change Bill
is going through Parliament now. A Climate Change Bill which does not
include carbon emissions from aviation and shipping is like a Drink
Drive Bill which excludes the effects of whisky. We want a strong law.
We want aviation and shipping emissions included.[]
