Hello again,
(Francis, I've added you to this, as you might want to come along to discuss
your idea).
the best and earliest time for people seems to be Sunday, and as my daytimes
don't look as free anymore as I thought, let's make it 7pm on Sunday
evening. As it's dinner time, let's meet at my (and the Stephen's) place,
dinner will be served :-).
EVERYONE: Read the below please if you come and start thinking about it!!
Here is a quick agenda of the items that we have to discuss:
1. Redefine Zero Carbon and what it does (as a Student Soc)
2. Get new members for committee next year:
- Organise the ethical graduates squash on Saturday 3rd May
3. Structure:
- Steve proposed that I should take on the role of president for the
remainder of the year, until we find someone else who wants to do this
- I would like to propose to have two co-chairs, rather than one
president and one vice-president in future
4. Finances: Find a better model to get the resources we need (if we need
any)
Point 3 is not as important at this time as the other two, so if they prove
slightly controversial, we can postpone them. If you have any other points
you'd like to raise, please send them out to the committee and info
addresses.
To give people some time to think about our proposals for point 1:
- Cut back on us organising talks or drop it entirely. There is enough going
on. Although the occasional event might be helpful in terms of getting some
cash inflow.
- Produce a "Newsletter", where we can just open up our website and email
address to outsiders for contribution and send it to our email-list; maybe
join Camacag in their newsletter? CUSU Ethical Affairs is thinking of
something similar
- Francis Irving wants to launch a campaign along the lines "It's the
economy, stupid!", that is aimed at the less environmentally minded in our
society, or more economically worried. In a nutshell, it is about using
information from very mainstream and business type organisations like the
CBI (Confederation of British Industry) and others to show, that even from
such a viewpoint (or rather exactly from such a viewpoint) it makes sense to
tackle climate change.
That's it from me, if you have any other ideas/comments/preliminary
thoughts, don't hesitate to send them on this list, it means that we don't
have to discuss every single issue on Sunday night.
Take care,
Marc

The trouble with most of us is that we would rather be ruined by praise than
saved by criticism.
