Dear Mr. Stretton,

APPCCG Meeting
and Screening of 'The Age of Stupid'
Monday 21st July, 4 - 6.30 pm
Wilson Room, Portcullis House

I am pleased to invite you to a preview screening of the new cinema
documentary, 'The Age of Stupid', hosted by the APPCCG and followed by a
discussion.

Set in 2055, the film stars Oscar-nominated actor Pete Postlethwaite ('In
The Name of the Father', 'Usual Suspects', 'Brassed Off') as a man living
alone in the devastated world, compiling "archive" footage of us in 2008 and
asking: why didn't we stop climate change when we had the chance? All the
early indications from test screenings and industry professionals are that
'The Age of Stupid' will take the baton from Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient
Truth' and both become a blockbuster film and make a major contribution to
influencing public opinion.

According to a recent MORI poll for the Observer, the majority of the
British public are not yet convinced about the relationship between human
activities and climate change. The film - which will be released in cinemas
internationally in the next few months, followed by television and then DVD
- powerfully confronts that attitudinal challenge. From the director of
'McLibel' and the Oscar-winning producer of 'One Day in September', the film
uses an innovative mix of documentary, drama, animation and cutting-edge
cinematic techniques to vividly illustrate the devastating consequences of
failing to stop climate change.

The film will be introduced by Pete Postlethwaite, and followed by a
discussion and Q&A session with its director, Franny Armstrong, and its
climate change consultant, Mark Lynas, author of Six Degrees: Our Future on
a Hotter Planet, which has just received the Best Science Book award from
the Royal Society.

Please enter by St. Stephen's Gate and please allow at least 10 minutes to
pass through security. If you would like to attend this meeting, please
contact Catherine Martin on <mailto:catherine.martin at carbonneutral.com>
catherine.martin at carbonneutral.com or tel: +44 (0) 20 7833 6035.

Kind regards,
